Been following a thread on the Bx16v forum on a rotrex supercharged Bx16v , just wondering if this has ever been done on a Zx ? Would be very interesting , the Bx is pushing about 240/260 bhp at the minute with more to come with a stage 5 head going on !

There was a kit made by Musketier for ā‚¬3500,- if I remember correctly. There are quite some 306 GTI-6 supercharged engines, someone is selling kits for it. Those kit will fit the ZX fine.

IĀ“m doing a rotrex supercharger in my ZX.
ItĀ“s made for a 306 gti6, but then they have the same engine.

Cheers for that James , it would certainly be very entertaining if nothing else , and shares in the local tyre shop too wouldn't go amiss

Just been on the Lynx power engineering web site , the 250 bhp supercharger kit looks tempting

It's certainly something I would consider in the future the Zx is more than capable of handling the 250 bhp conversion but 400bhp is beyond it's capabilities in 2wd form anyhow

That is true. Only whit this or a turbo you can get the 250bhp! it dont have to be 400bhp. It is the cheapest way to get the 250bhp i think

Well 400hp is actually not to bad with the supercharger kit, the rotrex supercharger delivers itĀ“s powers pretty much like the normal n/a engine.
The really hard pull arrives around 4000rpm and above, thou wheel spin is no problem if you really want to, but from letĀ“s say 50km/t and above you have to have a really special car to keep up, or even out accelerate it. Without a uprated diff IĀ“m sure it would be another story

This is the low boost setup, which you can mount to a standard XU10J4RS, without labour the kit is around Ā£3500, and gives the car around 250bhp.

ItĀ“s not cheap, but if your after that kind of performance thereĀ“s probably not much else out there giving you the same bang for your buck, if you donĀ“t do a DIY kit of your own then maybe you could make it cheaper.

I've not seen one done yet, but that Lynx kit can be made to fit the RFY engine very easily, the block is identical, as is the intake manifold stud pattern.

the only stumbling block is the engine management and how restrictive the exhaust manifold is, though both can be fixed with an ecu like a DTA S40 or S60, or OMEX's equivalent (and lots more!) and a tubular exhaust manifold off the shelf from Pugracing's supplier.
