What's your favourite hot hatch? Is it the ZX 16v?
Lately I've been thinking a lot about the Williams, because (in good condition) it's the best hot hatch I've had so far. And I like the muscular looks (bonnet bulge and wide wheel arches). But Renaults from that era seem to suffer more from rust than Peugeots and Citroëns. And the space under the bonnet is cramped, so major maintenance to the engine often costs a small fortune.
Common sense tells me I should keep driving the ZX, because it's a good quality car with a nice engine. But its looks don't excite me as much as the Williams' and imo it drives more like a GT than a GTI because of its size and weight.
So is the ZX 16v your #1 hot hatch or would you prefer another car under the right circumstances?

noob here
My favourite car is the zx 16v never mind hot hatch!
I owned my first zx in 1999, a volcane 1.9, i had my first zx 16v in 2002 and sold it last year, had another one for about a year from 2003 to 2004, i have owned lots of cars in between and driven a fair few more (having two brothers also into cars).
I dont know what you mean by not liking the looks, i think the 16v looks excellent, really love the kit, standard zx's are a bit minging tho.
the zx is not a big car, compared to its rivals at the time (19 16v, golf, tipo, civic, 309 / 306, escort etc) its light and quite compact, the clio is a supermini and pitched against other superminis.

the only car ever to trump the zx in the mid ninties was the tipo 16v, now that is almost as underated as the zx, but unlike the 16v, that is a f'in ugly car

I didn't say I don't like the looks of the ZX 16v. I do like them (I don't drive ugly cars ), just not as much as the looks of the Williams. The bodykit is nice, but I'd rather see wide arches. Not as wide as the awesome ZX Maxi, but you'll get the idea. The 306 also has this shape, but not pronounced as much as I'd like.

here we don´t have much options of a hot hatch
I like too much my ZX 16V but the other hatches that I admire are:
Honda Civic VTi EK4;
Peugeot 306 GTi-6;
Suzuki Swift GTi;
Citroen ZX GTi;
but it is a personal quote

At marktplaats.nl there is another ph2 167pk ZX for sale and that one is also known as a GTI at the RDW(registers cars etc in Holland). Citroen never called it a GTI so it's a bit strange.
My favourite hatchback is the ZX, haven't driven a lot hot hatches but the I find the ZX much better then the Golf III GTI, Astra GSI and Ford Escort RS2000.

I have never driven one of those. Somehow they don't appeal to me as much as French hot hatches.

On the continent it's known as the Opel Corsa OPC. Nice looking car.

Opel Corsa OPC is this one?
Chevrolet Brasil only sells this Corsa for us:
It is called Corsa SS ("super sport" ) an old generation Corsa with an 1.8 liter 8 valves engine with 112hp big shame!
